PROTECTION OF CONSUMERS’ RIGHTS, DISPUTES WITH FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS
Article 42 ofUkraine’sConstitutionstatesthat the state protects consumers’ rights, exercises control over quality and safety of the produce and all kinds of service and work, favors the operation of non-profit consumers’ organizations.
Consumers’ rights are protected by Ukraine’s Law “On defense of consumers’ rights” edited on December 1, 2005. This law regulates relations between consumers of goods (work and service) and producers, manufacturers, sellers of various ownership forms; it also establishes the rights of consumers.
Consumers when they buy, order or use goods (work, service) have the right of protection by the state, proper quality and service, produce safety, available, reliable and timely information about the products, their quality, assortment, as well as the information about their producers (manufacturers, sellers); consumers also have the right of getting compensation for damages (losses), caused by defective or fake produce or the produce of poor quality, and asset and moral damage (losses), caused by life and health endangering produce, in the cases envisaged by current legislature, etc.
